Manchin, Rockefeller, Rahall Announce Nearly $1.4M in Funding for Housing Programs Across State
WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 14, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller, along with Representative Nick Rahall (all D-W.Va.), today announced that housing facilities across West Virginia will receive a total of $1,391,551 under the Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance (CoC) program. This program is designed to promote communitywide commitment with the goal of ending homelessness.
“These funds will help us care for our neighbors in need, ensuring that some of West Virginia’s most vulnerable residents have a place to turn for support,” Manchin said. “These important programs provide hope to West Virginians who are struggling through difficult times, with the ultimate goal of helping individuals and families rise above challenging circumstances.”
“When West Virginians fall on hard times, our community housing organizations are a trusted resource for our neighbors who need assistance and support,” Rockefeller said. “The Continuum of Care grant program provides these organizations with the ability to quickly house individuals and families when they fall on hard times. This is such an important step toward helping people get back on their feet. This funding is an investment in the quality of life of West Virginians, and an opportunity to work toward eliminating homelessness.”
“Extending a helping hand to families and individuals in need so that they can get back on their feet is part of who we are as West Virginians,” said Rahall. “These funds will help to accelerate the efforts of our communities to provide safe and secure housing for the homeless, including veterans, while encouraging self-sufficiency so that homeless families have the resources and support they need to stay off the streets.”
