“Serving on this subcommittee will allow me to bring West Virginia’s transportation needs to the table and fight for funding for our state.”

WASHINGTON – March 25, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that he has been named to the House Appropriations Committee’s Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Subcommittee.

Serving on the transportation subcommittee gives Rep. Jenkins an opportunity to work with federal agencies involved in key West Virginia highway projects, such as King Coal Highway, the Coalfields Expressway, Routes 2, 10 and 35, and Corridor H.

“West Virginia faces serious transportation challenges, and serving on this subcommittee will allow me to bring West Virginia’s transportation needs to the table and fight for funding for our state. We have several unfinished projects that are crucial to our state’s economic development, including the King Coal Highway, the Coalfields Expressway, Routes 2, 10 and 35, and Corridor H. I would like to thank Chairman Rogers for selecting me for this important subcommittee and look forward to working with him and my fellow subcommittee members to invest in our nation’s transportation future. As West Virginia’s only House appropriator, I will continue to prioritize the needs of our state as we craft funding bills in the coming months,” Rep. Jenkins said.

The Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Subcommittee oversees funding for the Transportation Department, the Housing and Urban Development Department, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Housing Administration.

As Republican members are limited to only three subcommittee assignments, Rep. Jenkins will be vacating his seat on the Commerce, Justice and Science Subcommittee.
